Confluence is seeking an experienced Director – Tax to lead global tax reporting, compliance, and strategic tax planning across a complex international business. About the Role

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Director – Tax will be responsible for overseeing the company’s global tax agenda. This includes tax reporting, compliance, transfer pricing, tax audits, and strategic planning across a wide range of jurisdictions.

This role will work closely with internal finance and legal teams, while also managing relationships with external tax advisors. The successful candidate will help guide legal entity rationalisation initiatives, support business transactions, and ensure compliance with relevant accounting and tax standards including IFRS, US GAAP, and local statutory requirements.


What You’ll Be Responsible For

The Director – Tax will lead and support a broad range of critical tax activities, including:

  • Leading global tax reporting and compliance across multiple jurisdictions

  • Managing tax returns and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory adherence

  • Overseeing transfer pricing matters and related documentation

  • Driving strategic tax planning aligned with business objectives and growth plans

  • Supporting legal entity rationalisation projects in partnership with finance and legal stakeholders

  • Managing tax audits, liaising with tax authorities, and resolving issues effectively

  • Advising on business transactions, including acquisitions, restructurings, and disposals

  • Ensuring compliance with IFRS, US GAAP, and local statutory accounting requirements

  • Coordinating external tax advisors and consultants to deliver high-quality support and insight

  • Contributing to organisational transformation and helping shape the company’s evolving tax strategy

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience and Expertise

To succeed in this role, you will bring substantial international tax expertise along with strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.

  • Deep international tax knowledge with experience across multiple jurisdictions

  • Proven experience managing external advisors and overseeing outsourced tax support

  • Hands-on involvement in legal entity rationalisation projects, working in partnership with finance and legal teams

  • Direct tax audit management experience, including dealing with tax authorities in different countries

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including:

  • IFRS

  • US GAAP

  • Statutory GAAP

  • Transfer pricing

  • Purchase price accounting

  • Business combinations

  • Bachelor’s degree in financial accounting or a related field, with a tax specialisation

  • CPA or equivalent professional qualification

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience, including 3+ years in a management role

  • Track record of leading change initiatives in dynamic, fast-paced environments

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across time zones and cultures

  • Systems knowledge, with experience in NetSuite and Hyperion preferred

Desirable Experience

While not essential, the following experience would be highly advantageous:

  • Exposure to acquisitions, asset disposals, and business wind-downs

  • Experience supporting tax impact analysis for strategic transactions

  • Ability to contribute to organisational streamlining and regional expansion planning

  • Flexibility to work remotely or from preferred office locations

  • Prior consulting or transition support experience
