About the Team

The Europe Tax team partners closely with a wide range of corporate functions to deliver expertise across:

  • Tax compliance

  • Advisory

  • Planning

  • Structuring

  • Tax controversy

The team plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with both direct and indirect taxes, while also helping the business navigate complex tax matters across the region.


The Opportunity

TikTok is looking for a highly motivated and organised Direct Tax Manager to join its London-based Tax team and support the company’s continued expansion across Europe.

This is a regional role with broad exposure and significant visibility. The successful candidate will bring strong experience in European direct tax compliance, along with the ability to manage reporting and compliance activities consistently across multiple jurisdictions.

You will take ownership of core compliance and reporting processes, promote standardisation and risk management, and help drive continuous improvement across European markets. You will also work in close partnership with external service providers and internal stakeholders across functions including Accounting, Legal, Transfer Pricing, Treasury, and HR.


What You’ll Be Responsible For

1. Direct Tax Compliance, Reporting & Payments

You will lead key direct tax compliance activities across Europe, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.

  • Prepare and coordinate data for tax filings across multiple European jurisdictions

  • Review externally prepared tax returns for technical accuracy

  • Ensure timely submission of:

  • Corporate income tax returns

  • Withholding tax filings

  • Other local business tax returns

  • Support central tax reporting requirements

  • Review calculations and supporting workpapers for local tax accounting purposes

  • Manage direct tax payments, including:

  • Payment arrangements

  • Forecasting

  • Instalment calculations

2. Tax Governance & Process Improvement

You will help strengthen the tax control environment by improving how compliance and reporting processes operate end-to-end.

  • Enhance tax controls and governance processes across Europe

  • Standardise key workflows to improve consistency between jurisdictions

  • Reduce manual effort through smarter process design

  • Improve issue identification and risk visibility at an earlier stage

  • Increase transparency and operational efficiency across the European tax landscape

3. Tax Business Partnering

This role requires close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective tax execution and support wider business needs.

  • Work closely with Tax Business Partners globally

  • Provide specialist local tax input from both a technical and operational perspective

  • Partner with central tax service providers to align internal processes with global operating models

  • Support readiness for:

  • Automation

  • Improved data quality

  • Stronger tax technology integration

4. Tax Projects

You will contribute to a variety of local and regional tax initiatives that support the broader business agenda.

  • Support projects such as:

  • Tax incentive applications

  • Pillar Two implementation

  • Digital Services Taxes (DSTs)

  • Assist with ad hoc tax matters and strategic initiatives as needed

5. Tax Insight & Legislative Monitoring

You will stay ahead of tax developments and help the business respond proactively to change.

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax developments across Europe

  • Assess potential implications for the group

  • Recommend practical actions where changes may affect the business

  • Deliver insights and scenario analysis to senior stakeholders based on:

  • Legislative developments

  • Recurring tax issues

  • Process performance data

  • Emerging trends


What We’re Looking For

Required Experience & Skills

To succeed in this role, you should bring a strong combination of technical expertise, project ownership, and stakeholder management capability.

  • 5+ years of experience in industry or within a multinational accounting firm

  • Proven experience in European direct tax compliance

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate input from multiple tax vendors across Europe

  • Ability to build trusted and effective relationships with:

  • Internal teams

  • External advisers

  • Tax service providers

  • A proactive, self-starting mindset and confidence working independently

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Strong interest in learning new tax concepts and carrying out technical research

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality analysis

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience and qualifications would be advantageous:

  • Professional accountancy or tax qualification such as:

  • ACA

  • CTA

  • Or equivalent non-UK qualifications

  • Experience in the TMT sector and understanding of related tax matters

  • Good knowledge of accounting principles
