The Role

Private Client Tax

This opportunity is ideal for a talented tax professional with a strong academic background and the confidence to take ownership of client work while developing within a collaborative and high-performing team.

The Private Client Tax Team works with a diverse and sophisticated client base, including high net worth (HNW) and ultra-high net worth (UHNW) individuals, as well as family groups. Their affairs often involve complex tax considerations across areas such as:

  • Residence and domicile

  • UK and offshore trusts

  • Self-employed individuals

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting Managers, Senior Managers, Directors, and Partners in delivering a high-quality service to clients. You will also be expected to take responsibility for your own workload and contribute to the supervision and development of trainee team members.

While specialist expertise is welcomed, the position will primarily involve assisting with the management of a focused portfolio of clients across multiple sectors, working closely with senior members of the team. You will review straightforward personal tax return work with minimal senior input, while also recognising when more complex matters require additional guidance. Alongside this, you will be involved in more technically demanding assignments with senior colleagues.

Client Portfolio Management

You will take responsibility for a portfolio of clients, delivering both compliance and advisory support. Your duties may include:

  • Managing relationships with clients and internal colleagues

  • Responding to client queries efficiently and professionally

  • Reviewing Self-Assessment Tax Returns prepared by junior staff

  • Signing off letters and tax computations where delegated by a Senior Manager, Director, or Partner

  • Reviewing online CGT Returns and advising clients accordingly

  • Managing work in progress (WIP) and billing to ensure strong commercial recovery

You will also support the delivery of advisory work across a broad range of private client tax matters, including:

  • Trust and estate planning

  • International tax matters

  • Pre-arrival and pre-departure planning

  • Pension planning

  • Profit extraction

  • Tax issues affecting owner-managed businesses

Additional Projects and Business Support

Beyond day-to-day client work, the role offers a variety of opportunities to contribute to the wider success of the team.

  • Supporting business development activity, including attendance at new client meetings

  • Contributing to external thought leadership, such as articles for newsletters and publications

  • Assisting with team projects and administrative initiatives to help ensure smooth operations

  • Investigating and resolving private client tax queries

  • Helping to deliver internal training on private client tax matters

People Management and Development

This role includes a people-focused element, with shared responsibility for supporting and developing trainees within the team.

  • Mentoring junior team members

  • Providing constructive feedback

  • Supporting training and development

  • Helping to create a positive and high-performing team culture

PKF Littlejohn LLP is committed to the growth of its people. The firm actively supports both personal and professional development through a range of internal and external training opportunities, as well as ongoing technical and non-technical updates.

In addition to taking ownership of your own development, you will be encouraged to play an active role in helping trainees build their knowledge, confidence, and capability.

Career Progression

Career progression at PKF Littlejohn LLP is based on merit and performance. With the Private Client Tax team continuing to grow, this is an excellent time to join a team where advancement opportunities are genuine and visible.

Progression is reviewed as part of the firm’s annual appraisal process, providing a clear framework for development and future career planning.
