Join KPMG’s Midlands Indirect Tax Team
KPMG is looking for an experienced and driven Senior Manager to join its Midlands Indirect Tax team, based in Birmingham or Nottingham. This is an opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of clients, including UK-headquartered businesses and international groups entering or operating in the UK.
You will play a central role in delivering strategic indirect tax advice to clients navigating business change, regulatory developments, and complex cross-border issues. From expansion into new jurisdictions to post-transaction restructuring and global fiscal reform, this role offers exposure to a broad and stimulating range of advisory work.
What You’ll Be Working On
As part of this team, you will advise clients on a wide spectrum of business and tax matters, including:
Entry into new jurisdictions
Launch and development of new business lines
Business reorganisations
Tax authority enquiries and dispute support
Pre- and post-deal restructuring
Refinancing and cash repatriation
Interest deductibility considerations
Global tax developments, including BEPS Pillar Two
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving complex client challenges while delivering commercially focused, technically robust advice.
How You’ll Work
KPMG operates a hybrid working model, with team members coming together in the office or at client sites at least twice a week. This approach supports collaboration, learning, and relationship-building while still offering flexibility in how the remainder of your time is structured.
Key Responsibilities
In this Senior Manager role, you will be expected to lead, influence, and deliver across client service, team leadership, and business development.
Client Delivery & Technical Leadership
Work closely with Partners and Directors on complex advisory projects
Deliver high-quality indirect tax advice across a broad range of issues
Provide technically strong, commercially relevant solutions to corporate clients
Analyse and challenge specialist input to ensure the best outcomes for clients
Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong client relationships
Develop a deep understanding of clients’ businesses and commercial priorities
Grow your own external network and identify opportunities for additional support and services
Provide sales support across both B2B and B2C client relationships
Project & Team Management
Lead UK and cross-border advisory teams
Coordinate with specialists, overseas member firms, and external advisers
Manage project delivery to ensure quality, efficiency, and successful outcomes
Oversee engagement quality, risk processes, and client financials
People Leadership
Support team operations, including resourcing and performance management
Coach, mentor, and develop junior colleagues
Act as a role model for KPMG’s values and collaborative culture
Business Development
Drive forward business development initiatives
Identify and pursue opportunities with existing and target clients
Partner with senior stakeholders to grow client relationships and expand service offerings
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of strong technical expertise, commercial awareness, and leadership capability.
Qualifications & Experience
CTA, ACA / CA, or equivalent professional qualification
Strong UK VAT advisory experience
Good understanding of UK corporation tax
Broad awareness of related tax and accounting matters
