About the Role

Moore Kingston Smith is seeking an accomplished Tax Manager to join its Private Client Tax team in Godalming. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional to step into a highly visible, client-facing position with a strong focus on both advisory and portfolio management.

In this role, you will oversee a broad range of private client tax matters, working with high-net-worth individuals and owner-managed businesses. You will also collaborate closely with Directors and Partners, delivering expert advice, maintaining high compliance standards, and contributing to the ongoing success and growth of the wider team.


What You’ll Be Doing

As Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a varied client portfolio while ensuring excellent service delivery across both advisory and compliance work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of private clients

  • Lead personal tax advisory assignments alongside compliance work

  • Act as a trusted main point of contact for clients and professional advisers

  • Handle capital gains tax (CGT) and inheritance tax (IHT) planning matters

  • Oversee UK tax returns and more complex personal tax assignments

  • Monitor work in progress (WIP), billing, and timely delivery of work

  • Support Partners with business development initiatives

  • Identify and drive improvements to team processes and operational efficiency


What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a confident and commercially aware tax professional who can build trusted client relationships, manage high-quality delivery, and support the development of others within the team.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • ATT and/or CTA qualified, or possess equivalent relevant experience

  • Strong background in private client tax

  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and advisory matters with confidence

  • Experience in reviewing work and mentoring or developing junior team members

  • Commercially minded with a strong client-focused approach
