Type: Full Time

Contract Type: Permanent
Shape Tax Insight. Enable Learning. Influence Practice.
KPMG is seeking an experienced Senior Manager with a strong corporate tax background to join our national Central Technical and Learning Team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a technically accomplished professional who enjoys researching complex tax matters, developing practical guidance, and sharing knowledge that supports both colleagues and clients.
If you are naturally curious, highly analytical, and motivated by translating legislation and case law into clear, practical insight, this role offers the platform to make a real impact across the wider tax practice.
About the Team
The Central Technical Team collaborates with teams across KPMG’s tax practice to gather, develop, refine, and communicate technical insight that benefits our people and our clients.
Working at the centre of technical excellence, the team is responsible for producing original research, creating technical resources, supporting learning programmes, and monitoring significant tax developments, including changes arising from case law, the annual Budget, and the Finance Bill process.
You will also work closely with the separate Tax Policy Team where required, helping ensure KPMG’s technical content remains current, practical, and highly relevant.
As team members are located across the UK, we offer flexibility on location alongside hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
The Opportunity
Although this is not a directly client-facing position, it is essential that you bring a strong understanding of the challenges and priorities facing clients in today’s tax environment.
This role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical capability with the ability to communicate clearly, develop others, and contribute meaningful thought leadership across a national practice.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Produce technical reference materials and thought leadership content on selected tax topics.
Carry out detailed legal and tax research using legislation, case law, and tax authority guidance.
Draft technical resources and training materials that help upskill colleagues and support high-quality client delivery.
Incorporate insight from multiple sources, including existing KPMG content, internal subject matter experts, and other authoritative references.
Support client service teams by responding to complex technical queries and providing expert input on an ad hoc basis.
Contribute to technical learning programmes, including the development, review, and presentation of training.
Monitor key tax developments and help communicate relevant updates to the wider practice.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you should bring a blend of technical excellence, sound judgement, and strong communication skills.
Essential Requirements
Relevant legal or tax qualification, such as CTA or equivalent.
Deep knowledge of the UK tax system.
Proven ability to quickly build working knowledge of new tax regimes and technical areas.
Strong confidence in interpreting legislation and case law.
Demonstrated ability to conduct in-depth legal and technical research.
Excellent writing, drafting, and presentation skills.
A strong track record of delivering practical, commercially relevant tax advice.
Desirable
- Awareness of tax technology tools, including AI.
