About the Role
Indirect Tax Advisory Specialist
Stripe | Dublin or London
Help shape the tax strategy behind one of the world’s leading internet infrastructure companies.
At Stripe, our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet. We create powerful, flexible tools that help businesses start, scale, and operate online. Every year, Stripe supports billions in payments and empowers millions of businesses across the globe.
As Stripe continues to expand internationally, our Tax team plays a critical role in building scalable, efficient, and forward-thinking tax frameworks. We are now seeking an experienced Indirect Tax professional to join us and support this global growth journey.
About the Opportunity
This role sits within Stripe’s international tax function and focuses on Indirect Tax Advisory across our global entities. You will help guide the business on VAT/GST matters, assess the tax treatment of new products, support interactions with tax authorities, and partner closely with compliance, accounting, product, and engineering teams.
You’ll also be responsible for translating complex tax matters into practical, accessible guidance for stakeholders across the company. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded tax expert who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving, and international environment.
The position is based in Dublin or London and reports to the International Indirect Tax Advisory Lead.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on global indirect tax matters, helping Stripe navigate complexity as the business evolves.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a global VAT/GST expert for business and finance teams across Stripe.
Support international expansion by advising on indirect tax implications in new and existing markets.
Assess the taxability of new products and services, including digital offerings and physical goods.
Contribute to indirect tax policy matters that impact Stripe internationally.
Partner with compliance and accounting teams to support VAT/GST reporting and improve indirect tax processes.
Assist with indirect tax audits and manage interactions with tax authorities across multiple jurisdictions.
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define tax requirements and help design scalable tax solutions for users.
Drive indirect tax awareness through training, knowledge-sharing, and communication on legislative and process changes.
Promote clear communication of tax needs across Stripe and its subsidiaries, ensuring non-tax stakeholders can act confidently on guidance provided.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a well-rounded and experienced tax professional who combines strong technical expertise with commercial awareness, communication skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally.
Minimum Requirements
4–6 years of relevant experience in indirect tax, including knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
Bachelor’s degree plus a professional qualification in tax or law.
Prior in-house experience within a multinational business.
Experience gained in either a legal practice or accountancy firm.
Strong knowledge of indirect taxes related to digital services and physical product distribution.
Accounting experience, including proficiency with ERP systems and related data analytics capabilities.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated project management experience with strong attention to detail and ownership.
Ability to extract, analyze, and interpret data, then make sound recommendations.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, informal, and sometimes ambiguous environment.
A proactive mindset, with the willingness and ability to learn quickly.
Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
An advanced degree.
Experience in technology, payments, or financial services.
Background in a high-growth, rapidly scaling business.
Enthusiasm for joining a collaborative team of tax professionals who care deeply about Stripe’s work and each other.
Why This Role Matters
This is more than a technical tax role. It is an opportunity to influence how a global technology company approaches indirect tax as it scales into new products, markets, and regulatory environments.
You will play a central part in helping Stripe remain agile, compliant, and commercially effective—while partnering with teams across the business to solve meaningful challenges at scale.
