Key Responsibilities

As part of the VAT team, you will be expected to take ownership of both client delivery and practice development activities.

Client Leadership & Advisory Delivery

• Manage a portfolio of clients with appropriate support from VAT Partners and Directors

• Lead the delivery of VAT advisory projects across a broad range of clients and industries

• Support Partners and Directors in delivering tailored VAT advisory services

• Oversee technically complex consulting assignments, ensuring work is accurate, commercially relevant, and delivered to a high standard

• Maintain overall responsibility for client service quality, ensuring an excellent client experience throughout

Business Development & Market Engagement

• Drive new opportunities by proactively developing existing client relationships

• Build connections with prospective clients to generate and win new work

• Identify and convert referrals and leads from other service lines across the wider practice

• Represent the firm externally through network events and other market-facing activities

• Contribute to profile-raising initiatives, including PR responses and thought leadership content

Team Development & Collaboration

• Develop, coach, and lead team members, helping them expand their technical knowledge and professional capabilities

• Work closely with colleagues across the VAT team to support collaboration and shared success

• Encourage continuous improvement, contributing to greater efficiency and the ongoing development of the business

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking an experienced VAT or indirect tax professional with strong technical capability, commercial awareness, and the confidence to lead both projects and relationships.

Qualifications

• Relevant professional qualification, such as:

• ACA

• CTA

• ACCA

• Solicitor qualification

Experience & Expertise

• Broad experience in VAT / Indirect Tax

• Strong client handling and project management skills

• Experience engaging with senior client management and key stakeholders

• Proven ability to lead complex projects from planning through to successful delivery

• In-depth technical knowledge of VAT legislation

• Experience managing a portfolio of clients and overseeing service delivery effectively

Commercial & Leadership Skills

• Business development experience with a strong market-facing approach

• A track record of identifying opportunities across tax clients and other service lines

• A genuine interest in building your own network and client base

• Creative and pragmatic problem-solving ability

• Strong people management skills, with the ability to support and influence operational improvement and business evolution
