We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity for an Indirect Tax Associate to join a growing Tax team in a newly created role. This position is ideal for a tax professional who is looking to strengthen their indirect tax expertise while gaining valuable exposure to international operations, compliance activity, and process improvement projects.
You will play a key role in supporting indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, partnering with colleagues across Finance and Tax, and helping to enhance tax processes and controls. About the Role
As an Indirect Tax Associate, you will support a broad range of indirect tax activities, helping to ensure the business meets its compliance obligations accurately and efficiently. You will also contribute to process improvements, risk management, and advisory support on indirect tax matters.
This role offers the chance to work in a dynamic setting with exposure to both UK and international tax matters, making it well suited to someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with problem-solving and stakeholder collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and support the preparation of indirect tax returns, including VAT and Insurance Premium Tax (IPT), across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ensure filings are accurate, complete, and compliant with local tax and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with Finance, Tax, and external advisers to support efficient tax reporting and compliance processes.
- Assist with tax authority enquiries, audits, information requests, and compliance reviews.
- Analyse financial and tax data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support process enhancement and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and control.
- Provide guidance on the indirect tax treatment of business transactions and activities.
- Help identify, assess, and communicate tax risks to relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to wider team objectives, including workload planning and delivery.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and share relevant updates with colleagues.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience in UK indirect tax, ideally gained within financial services, insurance, or a complex corporate environment.
- Part-qualified or qualified tax or accounting professional, such as ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent.
- Experience supporting tax compliance, reporting, and regulatory obligations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability and confidence handling large datasets.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-specialists.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational ability.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across multiple teams and functions.
- A proactive mindset and commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within a multinational organisation or professional services environment.
- Exposure to international indirect tax matters.
- Knowledge of insurance-related taxation.
- Familiarity with tax reporting tools, ERP systems, or finance platforms.
- Experience contributing to process improvement or automation projects.
