Indirect Tax Senior Manager

Godfrey North is recruiting an Indirect Tax Manager or Senior Manager for its growing VAT team in either Edinburgh or Glasgow. The role focuses on advising clients across a range of sectors on VAT and indirect tax matters, helping them manage compliance, reduce risk, improve working capital, and embed indirect tax considerations into wider commercial, finance, and supply chain decisions. The successful candidate will lead and develop high-performing teams, providing day-to-day direction, mentoring junior colleagues, and contributing to training, retention, and wider people initiatives. The position also carries responsibility for the strategic and operational development of the team, with a collaborative leadership style and strong emphasis on quality client service. From a client perspective, the role involves managing complex consulting assignments, maintaining technical excellence, and taking ownership of the quality of deliverables. The candidate will be expected to build trusted client relationships, bring sound commercial judgement, and handle technically challenging work with confidence. There is also a strong business development element, including identifying opportunities, converting new work, and collaborating across internal networks to expand client relationships. The firm is looking for an experienced VAT professional from either professional services or industry, with strong communication, project management, and stakeholder management skills; qualifications such as ATT, ACA, CA, or CTA are helpful but not essential.
