About the Role
Chalk Hill Group is recruiting for a Personal Tax Assistant Manager role based in Wokingham on behalf of a fast-growing and well-regarded accountancy and advisory firm. The position involves managing a portfolio of around 150 personal tax clients, including high-net-worth individuals, sole traders, business owners and trusts, in a supportive and progressive environment. The firm offers the technical strength of a larger practice alongside a people-focused culture and clear opportunities for career development.
Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing personal tax returns, dealing with HMRC enquiries and disclosures, supporting Making Tax Digital filings, preparing P11Ds and Capital Gains Tax returns, and assisting with advisory work relating to residence, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and trusts. The successful candidate will also liaise directly with clients and HMRC while managing deadlines and workflow effectively.
The ideal candidate is CTA qualified and brings extensive personal tax experience, strong communication and organisational skills, and the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly to clients. Experience with tax software is required, with CCH being desirable, while knowledge of residence rules and trust taxation would be advantageous.
The package includes hybrid working after probation, flexible start times, 25 days’ holiday increasing to 30, the option to buy or sell leave, private medical insurance, pension and life assurance, paid professional subscriptions, regular social events and free parking. The salary on offer is £55,000 to £65,000, making this an attractive opportunity for someone looking to grow within an ambitious and expanding firm.
