Saffery LLP is expanding its Leeds team and is seeking an experienced Personal Tax Manager to join its growing Personal Tax practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys delivering high-quality advisory and compliance support to a diverse private client base, while working closely with Senior Managers, Directors, and Partners.
The role is particularly suited to someone with strong experience in personal tax and advisory work, who is confident managing client relationships, leading projects, and supporting the development of junior team members.
About the Opportunity
As demand continues to grow, Saffery’s Leeds office is looking to appoint a Personal Tax Manager to play a key role in delivering tailored tax advice and managing a varied portfolio of private clients.
The client base includes:
High-net-worth individuals
Families and family groups
Trusts
Partnerships and LLPs
Landed estates
Rural and agricultural businesses
Many clients have complex structures, often involving corporate entities, so any exposure to corporate tax matters would be highly beneficial in supporting a well-rounded advisory service.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will take ownership of both compliance and advisory work, helping clients navigate complex tax matters while maintaining excellent service standards.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing a portfolio of private clients, families, trusts, and associated entities
Overseeing clients’ day-to-day tax affairs and identifying planning opportunities
Leading and attending client meetings to discuss and implement advisory and compliance work
Reviewing work prepared within the team to ensure technical accuracy and high standards
Monitoring budgets, time, and recovery across allocated clients
Ensuring deadlines, statutory obligations, and billing targets are met
Reporting on client matters and project progress to Partners
Supporting junior colleagues through on-the-job coaching and development
There will also be opportunities to contribute more broadly across the firm, including involvement in committees, presentations, and wider advisory initiatives, should this align with your interests.

You will bring:
A positive, enthusiastic, and proactive approach
Strong motivation, commitment, and professional capability
Previous experience managing your own portfolio and reviewing the work of junior staff
Proven experience in the delivery and management of personal tax compliance services
Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
The ability to work accurately and efficiently while managing multiple deadlines
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence when working with both clients and Partners
A collaborative mindset, while also being comfortable working on your own initiative
High levels of attention to detail
Strong IT skills
Technical experience should include exposure to:
Inheritance tax planning

The advisory split can be shaped around your strengths, but a broad knowledge base is important. Experience relating to landed estates and rural or land-based matters would be particularly valuable, as this forms a significant part of the team’s work.

The successful candidate is likely to come from a professional services environment and will already be operating at, or ready to step confidently into, Manager level.
Ideally, you will have:
CTA qualification
