About the Role
As a Private Client Tax Assistant Manager in our London office, you will work with a broad and sophisticated client base including high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, and offshore structures.
This role offers a varied mix of compliance, advisory, and dispute resolution work, with particular exposure to more complex cases. You’ll also have the opportunity to broaden your expertise across international and cross-border matters, inheritance tax planning, and owner-managed business restructuring projects.
We are looking for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, building trusted client relationships, and contributing to a team that goes beyond compliance to deliver meaningful insight and value.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will contribute across a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Preparing, reviewing, and submitting annual tax returns for delegated clients
Advising clients on a range of private client tax matters, including international and cross-border issues
Managing and supporting a diverse portfolio of clients, including:
High-net-worth individuals
Wealthy families
Trusts and offshore structures
Ensuring tax returns are fully compliant with current regulations
Liaising directly with HMRC and clients on personal tax matters
Managing HMRC interventions, including:
s9A enquiries
other investigations
voluntary disclosures
Maintaining and developing your technical expertise through continuing professional development
Identifying opportunities for advisory work and helping to generate new business
Supporting business development and marketing initiatives
Coaching and supporting junior team members in their development
Assisting senior staff and partners on complex advisory projects
Exposure You Can Expect
Our London team has a strong focus on complex and intellectually rewarding work. Depending on your experience and interests, there is flexibility to tailor your involvement in specialist areas such as:
International tax matters, including offshore trusts and structures
Inheritance tax planning
Owner-managed business restructuring, including:
mergers

acquisitions
tax due diligence
profit extraction
succession planning

Who We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from professionals who are either ready to step into an Assistant Manager position or already operating at Assistant Manager level and looking for their next challenge in a firm that will support long-term growth.
Key requirements
Experience in Private Client Tax
CTA / ACA / ACCA qualified or equivalent
Strong interest in developing both technically and professionally
Confident using Excel, Word, and tax software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to supervise and support junior team members
Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively
Good client focus and commercial awareness
Sound problem-solving and decision-making ability
Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
A positive, committed, and professional approach when working with both clients and colleagues
