In this role, you will take a strategic and commercially minded approach to client service, relationship management, and advisory delivery. You will work with a diverse client base and lead a range of exciting projects, while also helping to develop our people and grow the practice.

About the Team

Our Private Client Partnerships team supports:

  • Family businesses

We advise clients on both tax compliance and wider advisory matters, offering a joined-up service by collaborating closely with specialists across accounting, audit, and tax disciplines.

This integrated approach allows us to deliver real value to owner-managed businesses and family offices, helping them manage complexity and plan confidently for the future.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Associate Director, you will play a key leadership role across client delivery, team development, and business growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a first point of contact for prospective and new clients

  • Generating and converting new work with support from Directors and Partners

  • Leading technical and advisory projects

  • Delivering a high-quality service across a varied client portfolio

  • Working with Partners and colleagues on planning projects and specialist assignments

  • Supporting business development initiatives and helping identify new opportunities

  • Reviewing work and ensuring technical excellence across team output

  • Managing, coaching, and developing team members

  • Supporting workforce planning and contributing to a positive, inclusive team culture

  • Collaborating across departments to identify and respond to wider client needs

  • Briefing junior team members on client assignments and overseeing delivery

  • Providing on-the-job training and guidance where needed

How You’ll Make an Impact

In this position, your contribution will be felt across clients, colleagues, and the wider firm.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Building trusted client relationships and maintaining exceptional service standards

  • Leading complex advisory work and technical assignments with confidence

  • Partnering with senior leaders to grow the team’s client base and expand existing relationships

  • Developing junior talent through mentoring, coaching, and practical support

  • Encouraging cross-team collaboration to ensure clients benefit from RSM’s full breadth of expertise

  • Driving quality and efficiency across assignments while keeping projects on track and within budget

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from individuals who enjoy variety, embrace continuous learning, and are motivated by building strong relationships. If you are naturally curious, commercially aware, and interested in improving how things are done, this could be an excellent fit.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • CTA and/or ACA qualification, or be qualified by experience

  • A strong technical understanding of tax issues affecting a range of private clients

  • Practical experience in private client tax compliance and advisory work

  • Proven capability in client relationship management

  • Strong project management skills

  • The ability to lead advisory assignments and deliver high-quality outputs within budget

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience managing a portfolio of personal tax compliance and advisory work

  • Confidence in building and maintaining relationships internally and externally

  • A genuine interest in mentoring and developing junior colleagues

  • A range of lifestyle, health, and wellbeing benefits

  • Financial wellbeing support, including tools and resources

  • Electric car scheme

  • Access to a virtual GP

  • Individual healthcare cover

  • Access to 300+ on-demand learning courses created by our in-house Talent Development team
