The Opportunity
As part of BDO’s rapidly growing Private Client Team, you will advise on a broad range of personal tax matters while supporting clients in achieving their personal, family, and commercial objectives. The role offers the chance to tackle technically challenging work while developing strong and lasting client relationships.
You will be trusted to manage your own portfolio, lead complex projects, and provide expert guidance across succession planning, inheritance tax, trusts, estates, and wealth protection structures. You will also play an important role in supporting and developing junior colleagues, contributing to the wider strength of the team.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will combine technical excellence with commercial awareness and relationship-building skills to deliver high-quality advice and service.
Key responsibilities
Advise high net worth individuals, families, and entrepreneurs on complex taxation matters
Lead succession planning projects for multi-generational families
Act as a technical specialist on a wide range of inheritance tax issues
Provide trusts and estates expertise, including working closely with trustees and wealth advisory teams
Manage a complex client portfolio, overseeing service delivery, take-on processes, and ongoing engagement
Identify business development opportunities and support growth across the client base
Assess and manage engagement risk, ensuring compliance and protecting the firm’s interests
Work closely with colleagues and partners on technical matters and risk-related issues
Supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members
Challenge existing approaches, identify improvements, and help drive positive change
Lead projects of varying scale and complexity with confidence and accountability
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an experienced and technically strong private client tax professional who is confident managing complexity, building relationships, and supporting others.
You’ll bring
Deep and current knowledge of taxation, particularly in advising high net worth individuals, families, and wealth protection structures
Significant experience in succession planning for multi-generational families
Strong technical knowledge of inheritance tax
Experience in trusts and estates, including related tax considerations
A proven ability to manage complex client portfolios with a commercial mindset
An understanding of client engagement risk and how to manage it effectively
The ability to guide, supervise, and mentor less experienced colleagues
Confidence in leading projects and taking ownership of decisions and outcomes
A proactive, collaborative approach to working with peers, senior managers, directors, and partners
A commitment to continuous improvement and the confidence to challenge current practice constructively
CTA and/or ACA qualification or equivalent
