The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly capable tax professional to take ownership of direct tax matters across M Group entities. This role offers the opportunity to combine technical expertise, strategic advisory work, and stakeholder partnership in a complex, multi-entity environment.

You will play a key role in ensuring compliance, strengthening tax governance, supporting financial reporting, and identifying opportunities to improve tax efficiency and cash outcomes.


What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will be responsible for a broad range of corporate tax activities, including:

  • Leading direct tax compliance across all M Group entities

  • Managing corporate tax accounting and reporting, including the preparation and delivery of tax disclosures for:

  • Group financial statements

  • Individual entity financial statements

  • Acting as a trusted adviser to the business on direct tax matters

  • Business partnering with internal stakeholders to provide clear, practical tax guidance

  • Overseeing and managing tax authority audits, particularly in relation to corporate taxes

  • Managing relationships with external tax advisers

  • Identifying and delivering tax savings and cash opportunities, including areas such as RDEC


What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for a qualified and commercially aware tax professional with strong technical expertise and the ability to operate effectively across a complex business.

Key skills and experience include:

  • Deep technical knowledge of UK corporate tax, including:

  • Corporation tax

  • Capital allowances

  • Loss relief

  • Group relief

  • Ability to interpret complex legislation and translate it into clear, actionable advice

  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills to assess tax risks and opportunities

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence senior leaders

  • Demonstrated experience in:

  • Corporation tax compliance

  • Year-end tax reporting

  • HMRC audits

  • A proven track record in:

  • Tax planning

  • Tax governance

  • Process improvement

  • Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, or CTA

  • Significant post-qualification experience, gained in practice and/or a large in-house tax environment

  • Ability to manage competing priorities, support junior team development, and work effectively in a multi-entity group structure
