R T Marke & Co Ltd is seeking an accomplished and commercially astute Head of Tax to lead and strengthen our Personal Tax offering. The Opportunity

As Head of Tax, you will take a leading role in developing and expanding our private client services. This position calls for an experienced tax professional with deep technical expertise, strong commercial judgement, and the ability to build trusted relationships with a sophisticated client base.

You will be central to the delivery of high-level advisory work, management of complex client matters, and the strategic growth of this important service line. Alongside leading client work, you will also inspire and develop colleagues, helping to shape a high-performing and collaborative tax team.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Client Advisory & Relationship Management

• Act as a trusted adviser to high-net-worth individuals, families, entrepreneurs, and business owners on a broad range of personal tax matters.

• Develop and nurture long-term client relationships built on confidence, credibility, and excellent service.

• Understand clients’ wider personal and commercial goals in order to provide tailored, strategic advice.

Technical Tax Expertise

• Deliver advanced advisory support across key areas, including:

• Inheritance Tax (IHT)

• Capital Gains Tax (CGT)

• Trusts

• Estate Planning

• Residence and Domicile

• Personal Income Tax

• Provide practical and effective tax planning solutions aligned with each client’s objectives.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Oversee personal tax compliance obligations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and risk mitigation.

• Identify planning opportunities while maintaining the highest professional and regulatory standards.

Project Leadership

• Lead complex tax assignments from initial scoping through to completion.

• Ensure all advisory work is delivered to a consistently high standard and in line with client expectations.

Tax Legislation & Regulatory Insight

• Remain fully up to date with developments in UK tax legislation and regulation.

• Share relevant insights with both clients and colleagues, helping the firm stay ahead of change.

Team Leadership & Development

• Mentor and support junior and mid-level tax professionals.

• Encourage a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and high performance.

• Lead by example, fostering collaboration and professional growth across the team.

Business Growth

• Contribute to the continued expansion of the private client offering.

• Support:

• New business proposals and pitches

• Networking and relationship-building activities

• Thought leadership and profile-raising initiatives

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a confident and experienced tax professional who combines excellent technical knowledge with strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Significant experience in private client tax advisory, ideally within a respected accountancy, tax, or wealth advisory firm

• Strong technical expertise in:

• IHT planning

• CGT planning

• Trusts

• Estate planning

• Personal tax structures

• Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent

• Demonstrated success in leading complex advisory projects

• Proven experience managing high-value client relationships

• Strong leadership capability, with experience developing and mentoring team members

• Sound commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for both clients and the wider firm
