At Grant Thornton UK, we are focused on the future — driving ambitious growth, creating meaningful change across our industry, and helping clients succeed through insight, collaboration, and trusted advice. As a leading provider of audit, tax, and advisory services, we support businesses with strategic thinking and genuine partnership, while giving our people the opportunity, flexibility, and inclusive culture they need to thrive.
With over 5,000 colleagues across the UK and a presence in 150 global markets, we are on an exciting journey from great to exceptional. This is your chance to be part of that momentum — and help redefine both the profession and your career.
The Opportunity
New ground won’t break itself.
Our teams help businesses and communities do what is right and achieve their ambitions every day. We are now looking for an Assistant Manager to join our expanding Private Capital Corporate Tax team, supporting continued growth across the central belt, with a particular emphasis on the mid-market and owner-managed businesses (OMBs).
This role offers the chance to work with a dynamic and varied client base, contribute to both domestic and cross-border tax assignments, and play an active role in developing the firm’s tax practice. You will help clients navigate an increasingly complex tax and sector landscape by delivering practical, tailored solutions that address current risk while preparing for future change.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Assistant Manager in the Private Capital Corporate Tax team, you will take on a broad and rewarding role, including:
Managing a portfolio of clients including:
Owner-managed businesses
Private equity-backed businesses
Large corporate groups
Supporting clients with corporation tax matters, including:
Annual corporation tax compliance
Specialist claims
Tax advisory work
Project financing matters
Transaction-related tax projects
Acting as a key client contact, building strong day-to-day relationships and becoming a trusted adviser for your portfolio
Overseeing the delivery of tax compliance, audit of tax, and advisory services
Collaborating across the firm, including working closely with Audit colleagues and other specialist teams where needed
Supervising and reviewing work prepared by junior team members
Reporting directly to Partners and Directors in most cases
Coaching and developing junior colleagues, helping them build technical capability and confidence
Identifying business development opportunities and contributing to pitches and proposals
Organising work delivery effectively, solving problems proactively, and ensuring deadlines are met
This position will allow you to strengthen both your technical expertise and your commercial awareness, while expanding your internal and external network.
What We’re Looking For
We have ambitious growth plans, and we’re looking for people with the energy, adaptability, and drive to help us achieve them.
To be considered for this role, you will need:

If you don’t meet every single point, don’t be discouraged — we will support your development and help you grow into the role.
