About the Role

Tax Advisory Director

Saffery LLP

Saffery is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Tax Advisory Director to join our highly regarded Corporate Tax team. This is a senior opportunity for a commercially minded tax professional who enjoys working on complex advisory matters, building trusted relationships, and helping clients navigate significant business decisions.

As part of Saffery’s wider tax advisory offering, you will work on a broad range of projects for clients across the UK and internationally. From transactions and tax due diligence to reorganisations, employee incentives, and cross-border structuring, this role offers variety, challenge, and the chance to make a real impact.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will work closely with tax partners in London and across Saffery’s regional offices, supporting a wide-ranging client base and collaborating with specialists across the firm. You will also be encouraged to develop your own strong network of client and internal relationships, particularly with colleagues in Corporate Finance and other non-tax teams.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in an advisory-led environment, enjoys solving technically complex issues, and wants to play a key role in the continued growth of a dynamic and ambitious firm.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Tax Advisory Director, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and shaping go-to-market strategy alongside Saffery’s partners

  • Leading and collaborating on advisory assignments for a diverse portfolio of clients, including:

  • startups

  • entrepreneurial and growing businesses

  • private family capital

  • large international groups

  • investment funds

  • Advising management teams and shareholders on acquisitions and disposals

  • Running tax due diligence projects and coordinating with:

  • Corporate Finance

  • Employment Tax

  • VAT teams

  • Advising on corporate reorganisations and supporting implementation, including:

  • capital reductions

  • section 110 demergers

  • Reviewing transactional documentation, including:

  • share purchase agreements

  • tax covenants

  • tax disclosure letters

  • Preparing HMRC clearance applications, both statutory and non-statutory

  • Advising on international structuring and cross-border corporate transactions, including liaison with firms in the Nexia network

  • Supporting property transaction structuring, including acquisitions and disposals

  • Designing and implementing employee incentive plans

  • Advising on the interpretation and application of double tax treaties in relation to corporate transactions

  • Working with tax compliance teams on post-transaction compliance matters

Your Impact

This is a role for someone who can combine technical excellence with strong commercial judgement. You will be a visible leader within the tax advisory team, helping clients solve important challenges while contributing to the continued development of Saffery’s service offering.

You will also have the flexibility to shape a portfolio of work that reflects your strengths and interests. At Saffery, we believe in “Potential meets personal” — and that includes building a role that works for you. In partnership with your line manager, you will have the opportunity to develop a mix of work aligned to your experience, aspirations, and preferred focus areas.

About You

We are looking for a qualified tax professional with strong advisory experience and a track record of delivering high-quality work in a client-facing environment.

You will likely have:

  • A professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent

  • Several years’ post-qualified experience in:

  • corporation tax

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong relationship-building skills with both clients and internal stakeholders
