Senior Tax Technology Manager

Ford is recruiting a Senior Manager, Indirect Tax Technology within its Office of Tax Counsel to lead the strategy, implementation, and optimization of indirect tax technology across the business. The role acts as the key connection between tax, IT, finance, accounting, and other business teams, ensuring tax requirements are translated into effective systems and processes. A major focus is on modernizing the tax function so it can operate efficiently and stay compliant in a changing digital and regulatory environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping and delivering a tax technology roadmap aligned with Ford’s wider business goals. This includes evaluating and implementing tax engines and related software, improving automation, and overseeing tax data management to ensure strong data quality, reporting, and analytics. The role also covers full project lifecycle ownership, from gathering requirements through design, testing, and deployment. Ford is looking for someone with a degree in accounting, finance, computer science, information systems, or a related field, together with strong VAT consulting experience and proven ability to work between IT and business teams. Applicants should have experience with ERP systems, tax engines such as Vertex, and analytics tools like Alteryx or Power BI, alongside strong communication and project management skills. Additional desirable qualifications include a master’s degree, CPA certification, multinational corporate experience, and exposure to advanced technologies such as RPA, AI, or machine learning in a tax setting. The role is based in Dunton or Cologne, with an expectation of office attendance around four days a week, and employment is subject to pre-employment checks including a criminal record check for unspent convictions.
