About the Role
Tax Manager
Pinewood.AI
Pinewood.AI is looking for a proactive, detail-focused Tax Manager to lead our UK tax compliance activities while supporting and coordinating tax matters across our international group.
This is a newly created role and an exciting opportunity to become our first dedicated in-house tax specialist. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will play a central role in building robust tax processes, strengthening governance, and supporting the continued growth of a fast-scaling international technology business.
If you are currently working in practice and are ready to make your first move into industry, this role offers the chance to take real ownership of core UK tax matters while also gaining valuable international exposure.
The Opportunity
This position is primarily centred on UK corporation tax, VAT, and employment taxes, while also overseeing the coordination of international compliance through local finance teams and external advisers.
As Pinewood.AI continues to grow globally, you will help shape a more co-sourced and scalable approach to tax management across the Group. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, contribute to stronger internal controls, and support the development of effective tax governance frameworks.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own UK corporation tax compliance, including the preparation, review, and submission of tax computations and returns, ensuring all filings are accurate and completed on time.
- Manage UK VAT compliance, overseeing reporting cycles, reviewing reconciliations, and helping to embed effective controls.
- Oversee employment tax matters, including PAYE and P11D processes, working closely with HR to ensure compliance with legislation and internal policy.
- Act as the key contact for HMRC, managing correspondence, coordinating responses, and liaising with advisers where required.
- Manage external tax advisers, reviewing deliverables, responding to queries, and ensuring high-quality, timely submissions.
- Coordinate international tax compliance across group entities, working with local finance contacts and advisers to ensure obligations are met in each jurisdiction.
- Lead on tax forecasting, provisions, and reporting for group accounts, partnering with Finance during month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support transfer pricing documentation and intercompany arrangements, ensuring they reflect operational and commercial activity.
- Develop and enhance tax policies, controls, and documentation to improve governance and support business growth.
- Monitor legislative changes across the UK and internationally, assessing any potential impact on the Group.
- Build strong internal relationships across Finance and international teams, becoming a trusted point of contact for tax-related matters.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a technically strong and commercially aware tax professional who is excited by the opportunity to shape and grow an in-house tax function.
- ACA, ACCA, or CTA qualified, with training completed within a recognised practice firm.
- 1–2 years’ post-qualification experience in a tax-focused role, ideally within practice.
- Strong UK corporate tax knowledge, including hands-on experience preparing and reviewing tax computations and returns.
- Good working knowledge of VAT and employment taxes, with the ability to apply technical understanding in a practical way.
- Experience working with external advisers and reviewing technical outputs.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively.
- Confident communication skills, able to build relationships across teams, seniority levels, and international locations.
- Comfortable in a changing environment, where processes are evolving and there is an opportunity to add real value.
- A genuine desire to build a long-term career in industry tax.
Desirable: Exposure to multi-entity groups or international tax coordination would be beneficial, though it is not essential.
Why This Role Stands Out
This is a rare chance to step into a role where you can make an immediate and visible impact.
As Pinewood.AI’s first in-house tax hire, you will have the opportunity to shape the way tax is managed across the business, working at the heart of a growing international organisation. You will gain broad responsibility, meaningful exposure to cross-border matters, and close access to senior leadership from day one.
Unlike larger corporate environments where responsibilities can be narrowly defined, this role offers the scope to build, influence, and grow alongside the business.

- 25 days’ holiday plus all UK bank holidays
- 4x life assurance
