Our Tax Division provides a broad range of compliance and advisory services across:

The Opportunity

We are looking for an ambitious, confident and commercially minded VAT professional to join our growing VAT team.

This is a key role for someone who combines strong technical VAT expertise with a passion for business development, relationship building and client delivery. You will play an important part in supporting Directors and Partners to win new work, expand strategic client relationships and deliver first-class VAT advisory and compliance services.

Key Responsibilities

As part of the VAT team, you will take on a varied and high-impact role, with responsibilities including:

Business Development & Market Growth

• Lead the development and implementation of a VAT-focused business development strategy aligned with wider firm objectives.

• Identify and convert new business opportunities through direct outreach, networking, events and referrals.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospective clients, intermediaries and internal stakeholders.

• Support Directors and Partners in the preparation and delivery of proposals, tenders and pitch presentations.

• Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure campaigns, events and thought leadership activity support VAT growth objectives.

• Represent the VAT team externally by raising market visibility through networking, speaking opportunities and published content.

Client Delivery & Technical Excellence

• Work alongside Directors and Partners to manage and deliver VAT advisory and consultancy projects for a portfolio of clients.

• Manage and review VAT compliance work, including VAT return reviews where required.

• Ensure technical excellence and a consistently high standard of client service across all work delivered.

• Spot opportunities to cross-sell VAT and broader tax and advisory services to existing and prospective clients.

Team Leadership & Development

• Contribute to the management, mentoring and development of junior members of the team.

• Promote a positive team culture, encouraging collaboration, development and strong performance.

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will bring a blend of technical credibility, commercial awareness and leadership capability. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate the following:

• Significant VAT advisory experience, ideally gained within a professional services environment.

• A proven track record in business development, including lead generation, networking and converting opportunities into revenue.

• Strong technical VAT knowledge across a broad range of issues affecting corporates and owner-managed businesses.

• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities while understanding client needs.

• Confidence in managing client relationships and delivering advice in a clear, practical and accessible way.

• Experience in reviewing and managing work with a strong focus on quality and risk management.

• The ability to coach, mentor and develop junior staff effectively.

• A relevant professional qualification such as CTA and/or ACA/ACCA (or equivalent), although candidates who are qualified by experience will also be considered.

• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

• A self-motivated, proactive and enthusiastic approach, with a strong collaborative mindset.
