Your Role

Assistant Manager or Manager – VAT Advisory & Compliance

Based in our London office, you will take ownership of VAT client work, managing a varied portfolio that includes both advisory assignments and VAT return reviews. You will play a visible role in client service delivery, internal collaboration, and business development, while also helping to mentor and support junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Serve as the main day-to-day contact for clients on VAT matters.

• Keep clients informed of VAT developments and issues relevant to their business operations.

• Review VAT returns and other indirect tax filings to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Manage and deliver VAT advisory projects across a range of sectors and client types.

• Support Partners and Directors with business development initiatives and networking opportunities.

• Build strong working relationships with clients and colleagues across the firm and externally.

• Coach, mentor, and develop junior team members to support their technical and professional growth.

• Take responsibility for risk management and ensure that technical and quality standards are consistently met.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking an experienced VAT professional with the technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and people skills to thrive in a client-facing role.

About you:

• Strong VAT / indirect tax experience, ideally gained within a professional practice environment.

• Relevant professional qualification, such as ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent.

• Good working knowledge of UK VAT legislation and its practical application.

• Experience managing a client portfolio and delivering VAT advisory work.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships.

• Commercial awareness, including the ability to identify business development opportunities.

• A collaborative and supportive mindset, with a genuine interest in developing others.
