The Opportunity

We are looking for an ambitious, confident, and technically strong corporate tax professional to join our growing Corporate Tax Team.

In this role, you will work closely with Senior Managers, Directors, and Partners to deliver a combination of high-quality compliance work and ad hoc advisory services to a diverse client base. You will also play an important role in supporting and developing more junior colleagues.

This position would suit someone who may bring specialist expertise, but who is equally comfortable helping manage a focused portfolio of corporate clients across a range of sectors. You should be confident reviewing straightforward corporation tax returns with minimal oversight, while knowing when to seek guidance or escalate more complex matters.

As the team continues to expand, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for real career development and future progression within a growing practice.

  • Ensuring the timely submission of signed accounts to the iXBRL team

  • Scheduling and coordinating resources to support delivery

  • Supporting the overall workflow to ensure assignments are completed accurately and on time

Compliance & Technical Review

You will be involved in reviewing and supporting the preparation of key tax deliverables, including:

  • Reviewing tax provisions

  • Reviewing tax accounting schedules

  • Reviewing final tax computations prepared by junior team members

  • Reviewing straightforward corporation tax returns electronically

  • Signing off tax computations where authorisation has been granted

  • Identifying when additional technical input or escalation is required

Advisory Support

You will contribute to a range of advisory projects covering corporate and business tax matters, such as:

  • Group restructures

  • International expansion

  • Share schemes

  • Tax efficiency reviews

  • Other ad hoc corporate tax advisory assignments

Client Relationship Management

Building strong, trusted client relationships will be an important part of the role. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering an excellent standard of client service

  • Building and maintaining strong professional relationships

  • Communicating clearly and effectively with clients and internal teams

  • Supporting the commercial management of your client portfolio

Commercial Management

You will also be expected to contribute to the financial performance of your portfolio by:

  • Proactively managing work in progress (WIP)

  • Supporting billing processes

  • Helping ensure strong commercial recoveries

  • Managing work efficiently and profitably

Team Support & Process Improvement

As part of a collaborative and growing team, you will also:

  • Ensure firm policies and procedures are followed across client work

  • Help explain and implement those procedures within the trainee group

  • Assist with the supervision of junior team members

  • Provide guidance, support, and constructive feedback

  • Contribute to administrative tasks and internal projects that improve team efficiency

Additional Project Work

Alongside core responsibilities, you may also have the opportunity to support on a variety of special assignments, including:

  • Tender submissions and new business proposals

  • Tax due diligence projects

  • Internal corporation tax training

  • Investigating and resolving technical tax queries

  • Supporting wider advisory projects

People Management & Development

This role includes shared responsibility for supporting and managing more junior team members. Following successful completion of probation, there may also be opportunities to take on direct line management responsibilities.

PKF Littlejohn places strong emphasis on the personal and professional development of its people. The firm offers a range of internal and external training opportunities, as well as regular technical and non-technical updates.

In addition to managing your own development, you will be expected to take an active role in helping junior colleagues grow through coaching, feedback, and day-to-day support.

Career Progression

At PKF Littlejohn, progression is merit-based. As our Corporate Tax team continues to grow, there will be significant opportunities for career advancement.

Your development, progress, and promotion opportunities will be formally reviewed as part of the annual appraisal process, giving ambitious individuals a clear pathway forward.

  • A strong technical grounding in corporate tax principles

  • The ability to explain complex technical issues clearly to non-specialists

  • Up-to-date knowledge across a wide range of SME and large corporate tax matters

  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how tax impacts wider business decisions

  • Experience managing a small client portfolio profitably

  • Experience supporting tax advisory work

  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and high-quality written reports, including due diligence reports
