The IFRS Foundation is seeking an accomplished Global Tax Manager to lead and develop its worldwide tax agenda. This is a high-impact role for a tax professional who can combine technical excellence with practical judgement, ensuring the organisation’s global tax affairs are managed efficiently, compliantly and strategically.
Working across multiple jurisdictions, you will take ownership of tax compliance, reporting, advisory support and risk management. You will partner closely with colleagues across Finance, HR, Legal and Compliance, while also managing relationships with external advisors, auditors and tax authorities.
About the Role
As Global Tax Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the Foundation meets all relevant tax obligations accurately and on time, while also supporting wider financial reporting and business decision-making. You will play a central role in identifying and mitigating tax risks, advising on international and employment tax matters, and maintaining a robust global tax control environment.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a complex international setting and is confident navigating a broad range of tax issues, including corporate tax, VAT/GST, transfer pricing, employment taxes, global mobility and IFRS-related tax reporting.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Global Tax Compliance & Operations
You will oversee the Foundation’s day-to-day global tax compliance activity, ensuring all obligations are delivered to a high standard across multiple jurisdictions.
Lead and coordinate the preparation, review and submission of global tax filings
Manage UK corporation tax compliance, including transfer pricing oversight
Prepare and submit UK VAT returns
Lead US tax reporting, including Form 990 and relevant state charitable filings
Coordinate international tax returns in jurisdictions including:
Germany
Canada
China
Japan
Hong Kong
Oversee GST filings and prepare Canadian tax rebate claims
Manage withholding tax matters, including:
tax residency certificates
treaty relief applications
ensuring overseas payments are received free from unnecessary withholding tax
Maintain accurate tax records and documentation in line with local retention rules
Manage tax correspondence with authorities and external stakeholders
Own the global tax compliance calendar to ensure all filing and payment deadlines are met
Financial Reporting, Advisory & Commercial Support
You will contribute tax expertise to financial reporting cycles and provide practical advisory support across the organisation.
Support monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting
Provide guidance on the tax treatment of intercompany transactions
Advise on transfer pricing and intercompany arrangements
Contribute to tax budgeting, forecasting and tax provisioning
Prepare deferred tax calculations
Perform general ledger analysis, tax reconciliations and ad hoc tax reporting
Support the preparation of tax disclosures within IFRS financial statements
Prepare and submit tax-related information to:
auditors
regulators
other third-party organisations
Tax Risk Management & Internal Controls
You will help the Foundation proactively manage tax risk and strengthen its global tax governance framework.
Identify and assess potential tax risks and exposures
Take ownership of the tax risk framework
Prepare materials and papers for the Audit and Risk Committee
Oversee tax compliance activity, fiscal audits and tax-related projects
Partner with the Compliance and Risk Team on indirect tax issues
Assess permanent establishment (PE) risk linked to:
employee relocation
remote working
international presence
Recommend practical mitigation actions, including:
policy updates
contractual improvements
operational controls
Contribute to the development and maintenance of:
tax control frameworks
internal tax policies
Research, Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement
You will act as a trusted tax advisor across the organisation, keeping stakeholders informed and ensuring the Foundation remains aligned with changing legislation and best practice.
Conduct research into evolving tax law, regulation and market practice
Translate technical developments into clear recommendations for the business
Keep the CFO and key stakeholders updated on tax matters and legislative changes
Provide day-to-day tax advice across the Foundation
Engage external providers where specialist advice is required
Deliver training and guidance to the Finance team on tax compliance requirements and best practice
Manage relationships with:
external tax advisors
legal counsel
auditors
tax authorities
government agencies
Lead and coordinate annual Group tax audits
Employment Taxes & Global Mobility
In partnership with HR, you will support the organisation’s international workforce model by managing employment tax and mobility-related risks.
Monitor and manage employment tax and social security obligations across multiple locations
Support matters relating to:
payroll withholding
reporting requirements
social security exposure
Work with HR to maintain the employee mobility working group
Assess mobility arrangements from the perspective of:
tax
social security
permanent establishment risk
regulatory compliance
Track agreed actions and carry out periodic reviews to ensure advice is implemented
Contribute to the development and maintenance of:
global mobility policies
remote working policies
Provide timely updates to senior stakeholders and support internal reviews and audits as needed
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for a technically strong and commercially aware tax professional with experience in international tax management and reporting.
Qualified accountant, ideally with a UK or US tax qualification
Strong experience in tax compliance and tax management
Proven experience working in a complex international environment
Good knowledge of tax laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions
Experience preparing tax disclosures under IFRS
Experience with deferred tax calculations
Strong knowledge of:
corporate tax
VAT / GST reporting
international tax matters
Understanding of payroll compliance, rules and legislation in a multi-country environment
Advanced Microsoft Office capability, especially Excel, including:
pivot tables
sorting
linking
intermediate analytical functions
Preferred Experience
The following would be advantageous, though not essential:
Experience working within a not-for-profit organisation
Experience using Microsoft Business Central ERP
Familiarity with US tax filings, including Form 990 reporting
