Role Overview
The BBC is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Corporate Tax Business Partner to join its Group Tax team on a six-month fixed-term, full-time contract. Reporting directly to the Group Tax Director, this is an opportunity to contribute to the financial integrity of one of the world’s most recognised public service organisations.

The salary range for this role has been informed by internal benchmarking and external market insight.

The Purpose of the Role
As Corporate Tax Business Partner, you will play a key role in advising the BBC on direct tax matters, helping the organisation navigate regulatory change, global compliance requirements and strategic business initiatives.
You will work closely with teams across the BBC to ensure that tax considerations are effectively managed, risks are identified early and tax compliance remains robust across a wide-ranging and internationally active organisation.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be expected to deliver high-quality tax support and leadership across a broad range of activities, including:
Advising on corporate tax matters, including updates and recommendations relating to new legislation affecting the management of corporate tax
Supporting HMRC enquiries, including engagement with the HMRC Large Business Service, as well as international tax audits in overseas jurisdictions
Managing transfer pricing matters, including Group Transfer Pricing documentation, Country by Country Reporting (CBCR) and Pillar II compliance
Supporting and reviewing tax provisions and balances at quarter-end and year-end at Group level, including deferred tax
Managing the technical review and authorisation of corporate tax returns for the Public Service, with oversight of global tax compliance
Providing direct tax input into wider business initiatives, including Senior Accounting Officer requirements
Offering proactive and pragmatic tax guidance on strategic projects such as:
ERP system upgrades
Transactions
Business line expansion
Establishing offices in new territories
What You’ll Bring
Essential Criteria
To be successful in this role, you should be able to demonstrate the following:
Professional accounting and/or tax qualification, such as ACA, CTA or equivalent
Strong and current knowledge of UK direct tax law and its practical application, ideally with an understanding of the media sector and the spirit and intention of the law
In-house tax experience
The ability to think strategically and provide commercially relevant advice
Experience of tax controversy in either the UK or overseas
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
Experience working within cross-border organisations and managing global tax risks
Knowledge of UK corporate tax compliance and group tax reporting under IFRS, FRS 101 and FRS 102
Understanding of the processes and controls required to manage direct taxes in a global organisation
Experience of tax controversy in both the UK and overseas
Strong ability to multi-task, prioritise effectively and work to deadlines
