About the Role

Senior Tax Director

Rentokil Initial

Rentokil Initial is seeking an accomplished Senior Tax Director to play a pivotal leadership role within the group tax function. This is a high-impact opportunity for a senior tax professional to help shape the organisation’s tax strategy, strengthen governance, and ensure robust compliance across a complex international business.

Working closely with the Group Tax Director, this position will act as a trusted deputy and key strategic partner, helping to oversee the group’s tax risk profile while driving operational excellence across the function.

The Opportunity

As Senior Tax Director, you will provide both strategic direction and technical leadership across the group’s tax affairs. You will be instrumental in connecting high-level tax strategy with practical day-to-day execution, ensuring the business remains compliant, efficient, and well positioned in an evolving legislative environment.

This role carries direct responsibility for the integrity of tax reporting and compliance across UK & Ireland and Asia Pacific, while also leading on technically complex areas such as transfer pricing, treasury tax, and M&A / divestment structuring.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Tax Director will lead and support a broad range of tax activities across the group, including both strategic and operational responsibilities.

Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with the Group Tax Director to help lead the overall tax function and support delivery of the group’s tax agenda.

  • Act as deputy to the Group Tax Director, helping to manage the function’s risk profile and performance.

  • Translate tax strategy into execution, ensuring practical implementation across the organisation.

  • Maintain a low-risk, transparent approach in dealings with tax authorities and external stakeholders.

Tax Reporting, Compliance & Governance

  • Oversee the accuracy and integrity of tax reporting and compliance across the UK&I and AsiaPac regions.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with changing tax legislation and regulatory requirements.

  • Support group tax reporting and forecasting processes with a strong focus on control and quality.

  • Lead on UK corporation tax computations and returns as part of the wider group tax remit.

International Tax & Technical Oversight

  • Provide leadership on international tax planning and cross-border tax matters.

  • Review and oversee worldwide intercompany debt arrangements.

  • Formulate and implement the group’s transfer pricing strategy.

  • Advise on treasury tax matters and other complex technical issues.

  • Support overseas teams through effective tax business partnering and guidance.

Transactions & Business Change

  • Provide tax support to the group’s M&A team, including acquisitions, disposals, and restructurings.

  • Advise on divestments and structuring matters to support commercial objectives while managing tax risk.

  • Contribute to business transformation projects, group reorganisations, and other strategic initiatives.

Advisory & Stakeholder Management

  • Support the business on UK payroll taxes and UK VAT issues.

  • Manage tax audits and enquiries, including engagement with authorities such as HMRC.

  • Build strong relationships across finance, legal, treasury, and regional business teams.

  • Provide clear, commercially focused tax advice to senior stakeholders.

Team Leadership

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for developing and guiding key members of the tax team.

Direct Reports

  • UK Tax Compliance Manager

  • Transfer Pricing Manager

Indirect Report

  • Senior Tax Analyst

You will play an important role in building capability within the team, creating clarity around priorities, and ensuring the tax function operates effectively in support of the wider business.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a highly experienced and commercially astute tax leader with the technical depth and leadership capability to thrive in a complex multinational environment.

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive post-qualification experience in corporate tax.

  • Experience gained within a FTSE-listed business or similarly complex multinational organisation is highly desirable.

  • In-house tax experience is essential.

  • Experience in a US-listed organisation would be advantageous, particularly given that approximately 60% of the group is based in the US.

  • Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent.

  • Proven track record operating at a senior level within a tax function.

  • Strong experience across:

  • M&A / divestments

  • Tax reporting

  • Tax compliance

  • International tax

  • Excellent technical knowledge of UK tax legislation, including VAT.

  • Good understanding of major international tax regimes, particularly in:

  • United States

  • United Kingdom

  • Canada

  • France

  • Germany

  • Netherlands

  • Belgium

  • Spain

  • Italy

  • Australia

  • New Zealand

  • Malaysia

  • Experience dealing with tax authorities, including managing audits or enquiries.

  • Demonstrated involvement in cross-border projects, business transformations, and group reorganisations.

Why This Role Matters

This is more than a compliance-focused tax role. It is an opportunity to influence the direction of tax strategy within a large, international organisation and to contribute meaningfully to key commercial decisions.

The successful candidate will bring the confidence to operate at senior level, the technical expertise to navigate complex tax matters, and the leadership presence to support a high-performing tax function in a dynamic global environment.
