The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join Affinia’s growing and ambitious tax department in a senior role with real influence.

You will play a key part in leading corporate tax compliance delivery while also contributing to higher-value advisory work, strategic planning, client development, and team leadership.

We are looking for an experienced corporate tax professional who is confident managing complex compliance workflows, building trusted client relationships, identifying planning opportunities, and supporting the wider strategic success of the Tax Service Line.

This role offers the chance to work with a varied portfolio of businesses, from owner-managed companies to larger corporate groups, while helping shape the future direction of the team.


Purpose of the Role

As part of Affinia’s dynamic tax team, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding corporate tax services while helping drive operational excellence, profitable growth, and strong client outcomes.

This role combines:

You will also support senior Tax Service Line leaders in delivering a successful and commercially strong service offering across the wider business.


Key Responsibilities

Portfolio & Compliance Management

  • Manage a substantial portfolio of corporate clients, from owner-managed businesses to large groups

  • Oversee the full corporate tax compliance cycle across the team

  • Lead annual filing processes and ensure submissions are accurate, timely, and compliant

  • Review complex compliance work to a consistently high standard

  • Advise clients directly on their tax positions and compliance obligations

  • Ensure submissions to HMRC are completed efficiently and accurately

Advisory & Tax Planning

  • Identify tax planning opportunities through compliance and advisory interactions

  • Progress tax planning opportunities independently with clients

  • Support the delivery of ad hoc advisory assignments

  • Assist with project scoping, fee proposals, and the preparation of bespoke tax planning reports

  • Contribute to high-value client work across a diverse range of tax matters

Leadership & Team Development

  • Line manage and mentor junior members of the tax team

  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to support development

  • Assist with internal technical tax training

  • Lead by example, promoting integrity, accountability, and quality in all areas of work

  • Support the wider tax leadership team in delivering strategic objectives

Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across all office locations

  • Help improve compliance workflows and internal processes

  • Support the firm’s continued use of modern tax technology for efficient, high-quality service delivery

  • Promote the Tax Service Line across the wider group

  • Assist colleagues in other offices with tax matters as needed

  • Work closely with other service lines to provide a joined-up, client-focused approach

Client Relationships & Business Development

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and professional contacts

  • Lead meetings with complex clients and act as a trusted advisor

  • Spot opportunities for growth within existing client relationships

  • Support pitches and onboarding for new business opportunities

  • Work with senior colleagues to maximise fee revenue and add measurable value

  • Help drive profitable growth across the tax portfolio

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Monitor and manage key KPIs across your portfolio and team, including:

  • WIP

  • Billing

  • Debtors

  • Help ensure the Tax Service Line operates efficiently and profitably

  • Bring a commercial mindset to decision-making and client service delivery


What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a technically strong and commercially aware tax professional with the confidence to lead, advise, and develop others.

Professional Skills & Experience

  • CTA qualification preferred

  • Strong corporate tax technical knowledge

  • Solid advisory experience

  • Proven ability to manage a varied tax portfolio

  • Strong experience of corporate tax compliance processes and workflow

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and develop tax planning opportunities

  • Ability to work autonomously while also leading and supporting others

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills

  • Confidence reviewing others’ work and improving quality through feedback

  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders

  • A genuine desire to continue developing your skills and expertise
