Motability Operations is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Tax Manager to join our high-performing Financial Reporting & Tax team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a broad tax remit within a purpose-driven organisation that combines strong values with a dynamic commercial environment.
In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the business meets all of its tax obligations accurately and on time, while also acting as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders on tax matters that support business growth and change.

About the Role
As Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing Motability Operations’ tax compliance responsibilities across a range of areas, ensuring submissions, payments, recoveries, and reporting are completed to a consistently high standard.
You will also support the wider business by providing practical and well-researched tax advice, responding to queries, and helping the organisation navigate legislative and regulatory developments.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Corporation Tax
Prepare and submit Corporation Tax Returns
Manage quarterly instalment payments
Ensure compliance is delivered accurately and on time
Pillar 2 Compliance
Oversee the preparation and submission of Pillar 2 returns
Ensure all filings meet a high technical standard
Work with external specialists where required
Tax Accounting & Reporting
Calculate current and deferred tax
Prepare tax disclosures for:
Annual Report & Accounts
Half-Year Report
Monthly Management Accounts
Provide clear analysis and explanations for movements in tax balances
Business Partnering
Deliver accurate and practical tax guidance to internal stakeholders
Respond to ad hoc tax queries in a timely manner
Support business change programmes and strategic initiatives
HMRC Relationship Management
Build and maintain a strong working relationship with HMRC
Act as a key contact for Motability Operations’ HMRC Customer Compliance Manager
Represent the business in annual Business Risk Review sessions
Governance & Controls
Support the annual Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) certification process
Ensure submission deadlines are met
Maintain the Tax Risk Control Framework and associated documentation
Oversee Transfer Pricing documentation
Indirect & Employment Taxes
Ensure VAT Returns are accurate and submitted on time
Manage VAT payments and recoveries promptly
Ensure PSA Returns are completed accurately and filed on time
Provide expert guidance on payroll taxes as needed
Tax Strategy & Training
Update and publish the company’s Tax Strategy within required deadlines
Provide tax training and support to internal teams where required
Monitoring Tax Developments
Proactively identify changes in tax legislation and policy
Assess business impact and coordinate an appropriate response
Communicate implications of the Spring and Autumn UK Government Budgets to relevant stakeholders
External Advisor Management
Support engagement with external tax consultants where specialist expertise is required

We’re seeking a tax professional who combines technical excellence with strong organisational skills and a collaborative, approachable working style.
You will be someone who is confident working to deadlines, takes ownership of complex responsibilities, and is able to communicate technical information clearly to a wide range of audiences.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
A relevant accounting or tax qualification, such as:
ACA
CIMA
or equivalent
Significant post-qualified experience
Strong knowledge of:
UK Corporation Tax
VAT
Excellent:
numerical
analytical
problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working with colleagues at all levels across a business
Ability to adapt your communication style so complex tax matters are clearly understood
Experience presenting technical tax or financial information to varied audiences
High proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced MS Excel
