About the Opportunity

STERIS is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our Finance team. This position is ideal for a tax professional with strong expertise in European tax matters, coupled with broad knowledge of international tax and US GAAP.

In this role, you will support the EMEA Finance Leadership team across the North Region, covering legal entities in:

  • United Kingdom

  • Ireland

  • Netherlands

  • South Africa

You will play a key role in delivering value across tax accounting, compliance, audit support, tax planning, and a range of strategic projects.


How You Will Make an Impact

As Tax Manager, you will serve as a key point of contact for tax matters across the supported entities. Your work will help ensure compliance, strengthen business processes, and support sound financial and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare or review local country income tax accounting for supported entities.

  • Provide support with and review:

  • International tax packages

  • Foreign tax account reconciliations

  • Tax-related financial reporting requirements

  • Assist in the development, documentation, and maintenance of tax policies and procedures in line with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.

  • Support the management and monitoring of corporation tax compliance, including:

  • Corporate tax returns

  • Quarterly payments

  • Calculation of UK group payments

  • Coordination with external service providers

  • Monitoring filing and payment deadlines

  • Act as the primary relationship manager with HMRC for:

  • Corporate income tax matters

  • Business risk reviews

  • Support and defend tax return positions for relevant entities.

  • Partner with business units, global corporate functions, and international teams to help minimise local country income taxes.

  • Contribute to business development activity by advising on tax-efficient approaches to cross-border acquisitions and disposals.

  • Provide tax guidance on special projects, including the tax implications of integrating acquired entities.


What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable tax professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and enjoys building strong relationships while delivering high-quality technical support.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum of 7+ years’ corporate tax experience

  • At least 5 years specialising in European tax matters

Preferred Background

  • Experience in public accounting is advantageous

  • Exposure to a dynamic, high-growth environment

  • Strong systems capability, including extensive computer proficiency

  • Oracle experience is a plus

This role sits within a busy and evolving finance function, supporting multiple jurisdictions and stakeholders. The successful candidate should be comfortable working at pace and adapting to changing business needs.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to work overtime during peak reporting and compliance periods

  • Some travel may be required
