Saffery is looking to appoint an experienced Transaction Tax Director to join its growing Corporate Tax team. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially minded tax specialist who thrives on advising clients through complex transactions and helping shape a high-performing, forward-looking service offering.
In this role, you will lead on a broad range of transaction tax matters, including M&A, reorganisations, refinancing, and structuring. You will work with a diverse client base that includes entrepreneurs, private equity houses, corporates, and other key stakeholders, delivering strategic, practical, and commercially focused tax advice.
The Opportunity
This is a highly visible and client-centric position with scope to make a real impact. As Transaction Tax Director, you will take the lead on technically challenging engagements, build trusted client relationships, and help drive the continued expansion of Saffery’s transaction tax capability.
You will also work closely with colleagues across the wider firm to develop market opportunities, contribute to strategic growth plans, and strengthen the firm’s presence in the transaction tax space.
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of this role, your responsibilities will include:
- **Partnering with internal teams** to help shape and deliver the firm’s go-to-market strategy for transaction tax - **Leading a varied portfolio of transactions**, including acquisitions, disposals, demergers, and restructurings - **Advising clients on deal-related tax matters**, from structuring and due diligence through to post-deal integration - **Building and managing strong client relationships** with corporate and other business clients - **Providing strategic tax guidance** that supports commercial goals and decision-making - **Overseeing the delivery of technically robust work**, ensuring a consistently high standard and compliance with relevant legislation - **Supporting clients in HMRC interactions and negotiations** where needed - **Contributing to business development initiatives** and thought leadership to enhance the firm’s transaction tax offering - **Coaching and mentoring junior colleagues**, helping to develop talent across the teamA Role Shaped Around You

Saffery’s Corporate Tax team operates across 9 office locations and includes 7 partners and more than 100 professionals. The team advises clients across a wide variety of sectors, including:
- **Financial services** - **Real estate** - **Technology** - **Hospitality** - **Manufacturing**The team is known for delivering high-quality, tailored tax advice with a strong emphasis on commercial value and practical outcomes.
About You
This opportunity would suit a qualified tax professional with substantial post-qualification experience in transaction tax, ideally gained within a professional services environment.
You are likely to hold a qualification such as:
